Investigative tools in multiple languages suitable fo use by women's groups have been published by Women in Cities International. The tools were developed during the Gender Inclusive Cities Programme and can be used to collect information about women's safety and inclusion in public spaces in cities. UN Women's Global Programme "Safe Cities Free of Violence Against Women and Girls" was launched in Delhi in 2010 and will run until at least 2015. Sohail Husain of Analytica was appointed Senior Evaluaton Adviser and has written several key douments for the Programme (downloadable from link below). Participating cities are Cairo, Delhi, Kigali, Port Moresby and Quito. Following compilation of a detailed baseline, progress will be carefully monitored and evaluated to identify the processes and interventions that most effectively improve women's and girls' safety. International Guidance on Safety Audits ...more
On behalf of the European Forum for Urban Safety (Paris)and with funding from the Canadian Government, Analytica has created a tool for Local Safety Audits (also called Safety Diagnoses) for use in developing, transitional and advanced economies. Overseen by an Advisory Group from 20 countries and international agencies, it was first published in English, French and Spanish.
