On behalf of the European Forum for Urban Safety (Paris)and with funding from the Canadian Government, Analytica has created a tool for Local Safety Audits (also called Safety Diagnoses) for use in developing, transitional and advanced economies. Overseen by an Advisory Group from 20 countries and international agencies, it was first published in English, French and Spanish. It has subsequently been adopted by other Governments and is being translated into German, Portuguese, Dutch and Hungarian, with the possibility of further versions in Norwegian and Slovakian. A major initiative to reduce crime and violence has been launched in South Africa with strong personal support from Graca Machel (President of UNESCO) and Cyril Ramaphosa (architect of the South African Constitution). AFSSA aims to mobilise civil society and individual citizens to tackle the causes of crime through social action.
